A Dream Awake

A Dream Awake...by Kevin F. Baker ©

I dream awake in fields of green
I'm all alone and can't be seen
trees of length grow all around
the rustle of leaves is the only sound
the sky is blue, the air is clear
tranquility surrounds me here
peace and happiness I find at last
where I forget about the present, future and past
my mind at ease lets go of it all
time it seems has slowed to a crawl
I have never been to a place like this
totally relaxed, undeniable bliss.

We read the above poem at Kevins funeral, it somehow seemed appropriate.

Nature at it's Best by Kevin F Baker ©

Sweet flowers made of a rainbow's color
The sun's bright rays illuminate the ground
Where tuned birds sing and butterflies flutter
While waves on rock cast a soothing sound
The breeze is cool and carries the leaves
A scene of nature at it's eave
With elegance at the core I find
The blue air envelops the clouds of white
Which water over the dew-covered grass
The great trees stand guard with their height
To all darkness which might trespass
My mind starts to blend in with the stage
Then I vanish, no longer confined in a cage

"Memories" by Kevin F Baker ©

No memory of love, no memory of hate
There are merely memories I long to create
A caring heart, a discerning mind
I have this overwelming desire to find
While dark day after day, and light night after night
A blank chair and empty heart is my only sight
Mine eyes are tired and burnt when awake
For then I see all the apathy they take
Yet even in sleep mine eyes deceive me
They cast a shadow over what it is really
But I awake not knowing what I truly perceive
And I'm left with the feeling of wanting to leave..........my mind

A poem Kevin wrote to the firefighters on 9/11/01

A bonding so close, a unity so tight
a pact of brothers struggle with unrelentless might
They overcome the fear and walk the thin rope
Never losing faith, showing America hope
IN the deepest of hours these brothers stand high
Pushing on without pause showing American pride
Courage, strength, unity, the best of America they show
Brothers they are always, to America they are forever the heroes

Poems written by Kevin F Baker ©

Come live with me and be my love
I'll give you the stuff dreams are made of
Every second I'll be at your call
I'll always be there to break your fall

Your beauty overwhelms, your eyes so bright
You truly are a majestic sight
I offer you my love, heart and more
Romantic evenings on the shore

I'll treat you like a queen, and worship your ground
Feed you chocolates, play you sweet sounds
I'll be your knight, always be daunting
Respect all your wishes, never be wanting

I'll cook and clean, wash and scrub
Every night I"ll draw your tub
Every morning, breakfast in bed
When's the day we're going to wed

Come live with me and be my bride
My love for you could turn the tide
For you, my love, I'll lay it all on the line
Now I ask, "Will you be mine?"

This passion in my heart, I just can't shake
Please be my love, my lonely heart aches
I'll wait on you all night and day
Everything will be your way

I'll caress your body and love your heart
A little family we can start
My love for you can clearly be seen
Be my love, and come live with me
